On Thursday, Feb. 8, at approximately 12:20 p.m., troopers spotted a white Penske trunk going north on the New Jersey Turnpike in the area of milepost 35 in Mount Laurel Township, according to State Police Detective I Jeffrey Lebron.

The vehicle, being operated by 21-year-old Joel Espinal, of New York, NY, had been wanted by Delaware State Police for fleeing a motor vehicle stop. Troopers attempted to stop the truck, but the vehicle fled, Lebron said.
State Police attempted to stop the truck on Route 130 in Burlington Township and again on the New Jersey Turnpike. During another attempt to stop the truck, the driver rammed a State Police vehicle, Lebron said.
In Elizabeth, Union County, the truck attempted to cross from the inner to the outer roadway, colliding with the guardrail and overturning, Lebron said.
Espinal was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault Causing Bodily Injury while Eluding, Eluding, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Mischief, Receiving Stolen Property and Fugitive from Justice, Lebron said.
The passenger, Maiky JustoGarcia, 19, of New York, was arrested and charged with Resisting Arrest, Receiving Stolen Property and Criminal Mischief, Lebron said.
Espinal was being held in Essex County Jail pending a detention hearing. JustoGarcia was released pending a future court date.
This incident remains under investigation, and there is no additional information available.
